Johannes Vermeer is one of the quietest masters of 17th-century Dutch painting. He left few works; in all of them he studied how light enters a room and how it rests on a face.

The Vermeer work in this section is "Girl with a Pearl Earring" — a single wood-framed print. It comes in four sizes and four frame finishes; because the piece has a dark ground, a black frame gives contrast on a light wall while wood tones tie it to the furniture.
