How to Choose Wall Art Size: Matching the Print to the Wall

Size is the decision that matters most. The right image in the wrong size disappears on the wall. Here is where each of our four sizes works.

Know the frame allowance first

The sizes on the site are the visible print area. With the frame, the outer size is 2 cm larger on each side:

• 30×40 cm print → 32×42 cm on the wall
• 40×50 cm print → 42×52 cm
• 50×70 cm print → 52×72 cm
• 61×91 cm print → 63×93 cm

30×40 cm

Our smallest size. Hallways, above a desk, small rooms seen from close up. It is also the panel size most used in three and four-piece sets.

40×50 cm

Fills a small wall on its own and balances well in symmetrical pairs. A common choice above a bedside table.

50×70 cm

The safest single size for a living room. It carries enough weight on its own above a three-seat sofa. If you are unsure, start here.

61×91 cm

For wide, empty walls and pieces meant to be the focal point. In a small room it can overwhelm.

Deciding from the wall

Measure the empty width and aim to fill 60-75% of it. For a 180 cm gap, 110-135 cm of artwork is the right proportion — either one 61×91 cm piece or a three-panel 30×40 set.

Viewing distance

A rough rule: the viewing distance should be about twice the diagonal of the piece. Larger sizes read better from a sofa three metres away; smaller ones suit a hallway.
